Ragin’ Cajuns Celebrate Tree Campus USA

Howdy, Tree Planters!

Karina and I had a whirlwind trip to Acadiana Country of Louisiana for the Tree Campus USA planting event last weekend. We were on the ground at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette for a mere 24 hours and 40 minutes! The event was part of the Student Life Association’s Campus Clean-Up day, which included greening the UL campus and picking up litter in the common areas. Under the leadership of UL’s AmeriCorps, over 70 students and staff planted seven tree varietals in front of Martin Hall. Thanks to everyone’s hard work, 43 trees were planted, mulched, and watered! Afterwards, everyone headed to the old UL football field for a grill-out, fun and games, and some relaxation.

I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention that Karina and I also found time to enjoy some traditional Cajun fare while we were in Lafayette, including crawfish, frog legs and alligator tail. It was quite an experience for us two Nebraska girls!

Thanks to the entire UL community for making us feel so welcome while we were in town. Go Ragin Cajuns!

Plant on.
